Jack Nimble just dropped this unreleased Marvin track on his Soundcloud. COS HE IS NICE. I am assuming he produced it, it would be rude otherwise.
I remember hearing this track ages ago, it is a very lovely thing indeed.
WHAT IS THE SAMPLE THOUGH?
Damn, this was a wonderful show. The Oh! What A Glorious Thing launch do at Sketch, London. Me, Jack Nimble, Dego Brown, Marvin The Martian, Mary Turner, Jeres & Martin Carr live onstage doing that classic shit, BOOM! (Smash Stuff). I have NO IDEA who recorded this, who mixed the song into the sound, but whoever you be, peace abd love and THANKS to you, for preserving this awesome moment.
ATD24 is a 40 minute LP comprising of recordings made in a 24 hour period between 5am June 23rd a 5am June 24th. I, Akira The Don manned the studio throughout (apart from a ten minute period when I went for a walk around the block and dropped my house keys in the recycling bin), produced a dozen songs and ate around 8 bananas.
Now, after a week in the wilderness with brain-melting tinnitus, I return with our Great Works, the outcome of that strange and crazy summer’s day, in the shadow of the 2012 Olympic Grounds (where we will soon welcome out brave Martian forefathers with open arms and streaming cheeks), where twenty four (24) brave men and women came from all over the world to create a body of work that will outlive them all.

It’s the May 12th 2010 DONCAAAAAAAAAAST! Special guest DJ Jack Nimble is in the building! Playing brand new music from that Street Fighter mixtape! Awesome records! Enlightening banter! Chatroom interaction! And so much more!
AS with last week, I really don’t have time to write down all the songs we played right now. I need a PA of some sort. Is that what PA’s do? Maybe a secretary. Anyway. I gotta run down the post office now and send people their awesome gear. The CDQ track separated bundle of The Street Fighter Mixtape is
uploading as I type ALSO READY FOR YOU TO DOWNLOAD! I am excited for you all to be able to get that. Oh, I changed the title too. This is The Street Fighter Mixtape, I have no idea what I was thinking with that long-ass title I was rocking yesterday. Foolishness.
Speaking of which, I’ve been getting a lot of emails and things asking how people can send me Birthday Swag. I am in no way averse to birthday swag, and I have an Amazon Wish List thingy here. But, in all seriousness, your friendship, and the motivation you give me to keep doing what I do are incredible gifts that few could dream of. Who could ask for more? Truly, I feel blessed, and am deeply and eternally grateful to you.
OK! I run out now. IN A BIT GANG!
I did it!
And I love it!
THE STREET FIGHTER MIXTAPE!
I had a ton of fun making this… this epic thing of wonder and glory.
And to think how it began! It was supposed to be EASY… a simple, quick, fun thing I could do in a day and fulfil April’s mixtape quota. A mix of Street Fighter related music. There’s tons of it – Redman’s joint from back in the day, Ras Kass, Double, and so on – but quickly the project took off on its own crazy tangent when I found myself sampling the original SF joints wholesale and making new songs with them, rather than just arranging them all together.
Then I discovered the newer themes (S4 has some mind blowing music on it) and the movies’ music… So the project took almost 3 weeks, instead of the intended day, and now we’re suddenly half-way through May and the rent’s mad late and there’s a lisping Tory dipstick in Number 10 (Twitter got it down to #ConDemNation, oh the lulz). DAMN! Where’d all that time go? I was supposed to be dropping an EP on May 16th to celebrate my birthday. That is so NOT going to happen!
But here we have this – almost an album in itself. Scrub the “almost”… what I’ve been doing here all this time is all that stuff you can’t do on albums. Sample outrageously! Force self into corners! Learn fast! Scream at the horror of self-imposed deadlines! Push the maximiser too far! Learn from mistakes! Make new ones!
And, most importantly, make a gang of dope music and give it to the world.
