Autumn fell on Colwyn Bay the other day. One day it was summer, a neon sunset dying a bloody death on the horizon as I ran barefoot and shirtless on my beach, Joey Diaz in my ears, storming through the surf, leaping over a suicide of dead jellyfish, 5 miles from top to bottom, 600 calories smashed into tiny little fragments. Next day I woke to a heavy slate sky, and my morning walk up the mountain and through the woods with Hercules was a thick, crunchy, golden carpet. “EEEF,” noted Hercules sagely, as eeefs fell all around us like confetti. It happened just like something from Calvin & Hobbes. Autumn just fell one night while we were sleeping, flump.

I haven’t noticed the seasons like I’ve noticed them this year since I was a little boy. You don’t get seasons the same way when you live in cities. In a city winter means the sky changes colour and you might spend a bunch of your time huddling in a bus stop and getting splashed by puddles, but here your the whole world changes overnight.

Its coming up to a year since we decided it was time to leave London, got answered by the gods with an eviction, and boarded a plane bound for California. Six months since we moved to the North Welsh Coast, where I applied for a US Visa and got in the best shape of my life by walking up a mountain into the woods every morning and running barefoot on the beach every night. Now summer is over, I’ve got a US Visa, and my flight’s booked. On October 22nd I’ll be above the clouds, headed for Los Angeles, and destiny.

Two weeks left then, even less right here, on the border on Rhos On Sea and Colwyn Bay… just a fistful of days to enjoy this beautiful place we made our home for a couple of seasons one year in the first days of Satya Yuga. Just a few more runs on my beach. A few bike rides along the coast with Hercules on the back singing “yeahyeah“. We’ll never be as young as we are right now, and we’ll never have this again. I’m excited about the future, but I’ve loved this present, this perfect last, long Summer in Wales, before me and my beautiful little family roll the dice and embark on a new adventure.

MEANWHILE… the Emigration sale is still on. We ran out of hoodies, and the T-shirts are down to a few boxes, so get in quick before its all gone forever. Get 50% off your order by entering the code “THEEYA” at checkout…. that applies to everything, digital bundles (lots of you clever cats have been getting the entire back catalogue for a crazed £45), CDs, even hand drawn art. I did this A2 don doodle for a cool cat called Jordan in the USA yesterday, amongst a bunch of others.

He got one off me before while I was out in America last and I did it on paper plate in the studio cos I couldn’t find any paper. This one will fit in a frame and he’s psyched which is a beautiful thing.

Oh, and some new music dropped today. Our remix of the Twin Peaks theme, in a timely fashion. I’ve actually been working on this for a while, so it worked out perfectly. I think we accidentally created a new genre. I’m calling it trapgaze. Its like the introspective version of peakwave. Dreamy shit to bliss out to in a pile of leaves on an autumn afternoon.

It’ll be fall next year.

It’s a magical world. Let’s go exploring!

So, we drove down to my Mum’s last night, as we are, this very morning, off to see my brand new NEICE, who resides not far away, and we got the added bonus of some AS YET UNSEEN WEDDING PRESENTS that were delivered while we were on honeymoon. Above, you can se the grand unboxing of one of them;

That’s right  gentle reader EVERY SINGLE CALVIN AND HOBBES STRIP EVER, beautifully bound in three giant volumes.

This is truly an amazing wedding present and will take price of place in the Don Library and be passed down the many generations of Dons to come.

Also amazing is my new hat, a wedding present I bought for MYSELF from an American shop. I actually got two.

Anyway, the video guest stars Charlotte Narkiewicz, Zef (who just left xolledge and is awaiting gainful employment) and MIKE MARINE, whose framed picture sat creepily by my bedside last night and gave me nightmares.

The Internets is having one of its famous MASHUPCOMICSTUFF competitions, this time involving The Greatest Newspaper Strip of All Time, Calvin & Hobbes.

Most of the entries are shit and disrespectful, but  love this one.

Shout out Jonzee for the heads up.

Observing the Alien Landing Pod, by C Whewell

Last week the forces on high were good enough to bless those of us that reside on this funny little rock called Grayte Brrr with one last week of sunshine, before the season the Welsh call Hydref kicked in proper, and for that I thank them. It was a lovely send off, and whilst I did spend most of it sat on a chair staring at a pair of glowing monitors, I did get outside a little, and I loved every second of it. The dark is creeping in, and we’re going to have to start shutting the kitchen window at night, bit I am not sad, for the first year perhaps ever. I am excited about this new season. I am going to work with it, like ladies are supposed to with their periodicals. It is a brave and a bold experiment, and I shall let you know how I get on.

I think the key to seasonal harmony is celebration, which is probably why those flipping pagans managed to have such a grand old time despite not having any electricity of central heating. Today I celebrate the death of Summer, and I do so by living my life, happily, getting up at a relatively reasonable hour, enjoying a fine breakfast and luncheon in the company of a white-hot ladything, and engaging in rewarding work pursuits. I will have a think about some other ways also. Have you any great ideas?

I bet Calvin does. In fact, I know he does. I was re-reading that treasury last season…

Ooh, here’s one.

Haha. That was so me every year prior to this. Let’s see how long I hold up.

So, I had a great weekend, thanks. I did an awful lot of work with young Zef on AkiraTheDon 5.0, and half-watched an awful lot of The Inbetweeners, which is resolutely brilliant. Me and the PPF went on a tour of the Olympic Park. We live right by the grounds of the 2012 Alien Landing – I can see two of the stadiums from my window – so it was nice to go beyond the gates for the first time since I followed that fucking fox and nearly broke my neck. My lord, they have done a lot of work. If I was an alien I’d definitely land there, and if I was a despotic government I’d definitely stage an alien landing there. It’s perfect!

Welcome Back, Master Race! by C Whewell

I also went to my ole pal P Mo’s 30th birthday do – there were an awful lot of them this weekend, for some reason or other, but I only have one set of drinking paws. P Mo’s was a fine affair, and he got a Dog Of Fo, which seemed to make him deliriously happy. Someone got him a porcelain hand that carries drinks to the edge of the table then stops, and I made him a clock with himself in it, which I nearly broke falling upstairs running for a train. My mighty HANDS protected it though, with their flesh and their blood, some of which I sadly had to leave on the steps, along with shavings off of my ankle and knee. I have been getting an awful lot of injuries lately, along with my Better Fortune and Exciting Feelings, so I guess it is all part and parcel of the Samsonian Metamorphais I am currently involved in…

Oh, and I formatted my C drive and reinstalled my machine again. Well, started re-installing my machine again. Obviously it will take an age to get everything in place, but hopeful this time I won’t install whatever it was that buggered up the last attempt. I am being methodical. You Mac mofos don’t have to bother with this, do you? No, you don’t. But being that smug all the time can’t be healthy. So I do not envy you. Hell, Angry Birds is coming to Android, after all!

OK, I better go and post this video brief. I need lots of videos made all of a sudden. Who wants to make a video?
