I finished Skyping my babies around midnight last night, and made this song.
LOVE TO YOU ALL.
ATD, Hollywood Boulevard, 2015
hip hip hooray
one year to the day
since i packed my bags and moved to la
i looked to the stars and ask for a sign
now i look out the window and see the hollywood sign
and i walk on stars when i step outside
down the boulevard through neon lights
there’s spider-man, there’s sponge bob, theres superman
cracked out staggering outside the gift shop
head rings loud with the tick tock
time is my enemy
i gotta level up so hard
for my family still waiting to follow
this time last year I was running on the beach each night
pushing my son up the hills each morning
got in the best shape of my life
practicing my performing
cos i been pushing so so hard
and i been grinding so so long
all i want is to be my best
and to sing my songs and the world sing along
now california’s calling
hand outreached she asked me to dance
and I take it
cos this could be my last chance
ran with the jellyfish one last time
kissed goodbye to the sunrise
crossed a ocean
hit that strip like meteor
kick in the door waving the four four
took to the life like i been here before
ooh baby i like it raw
mixed opportunity with preparation
worked it out didnt need no presentation
a little patience
just a while longer we’ll be celebrating
i spoke to my nan on the phone her birthday
she said guess I’ll never see you again
I’m like no way
I coming back on a horse for you all
i been been missing my dad
i been mission my mum
i been missing my girl i been missing my son
i was with him each day first half of his life
only with him two months last year of his lif
but i see him on skype
and I see says I miss you daddy
i say i miss you buddy
I missed so much
making our dreams come true
did it for your mum
did it for you
so you could be proud of your old man
and know that you could be whatever you want
fortune favours the brave
now I drop nukes in the rave
do not behave
smash every stage i invade
every song a grenade
the best DJ in all of LA
ME AND MY BD SECURITY Gs ENTIRELY UNRELATED TO POST
You might not know this, but until a few weeks back, all the stuff I create – music, video, art etc – has been made on a 2011 Macbook Pro ever since Stephen Hague convinced me to swap from PC world back in 2011. Shit, I was DJing on it too. One 4 year old laptop, being dragged around LA every night and home again, making all my stuff. Shit was insane and untenable. And frustrating as hell. I’d get an hour into a music project, more than, say, 5 synths at once, and shit would start spitting and sputtering and freezing and crashing. That KILLER video was taking an hour worth of rendering time for every 12 seconds of greenscreen footage I’d edit.
Well, ever since they announced the new Mac Pro in 2013, I wanted one. And finally, the other week, I got one. I worked my little ass off, saved my dollars, and finally copped me a beautiful space aged shiny 20011-a-Space-Oddysey-Esque BIN that now sits proudly on my desk and enables me to do things I simply could not before.
Like the above. I created the music for New York based future-fashion don Daniel Silverstain’s latest collection, which involved 33 drums tracks, 21 instances of Omnisphere (a vast, power hungry synth I previously could manage two instances of before the whole machine collapsed), 15 instances of Garritan Instant Orchestra (a similarly resource hungry strings modelling plug in), 57 sample tracks and a wealth of automated effects… Which didn’t even get Logic (the DAW I use) to 50% CPU usage. No stuttering. No lagging. No crashing. No having to bounce down tracks every time I change something to save on CPU. Shit is full blown AMAZING and JOYFUL and my life has been UTTERLY ALTERED.
LOOKIT DA FLICKA DA DESK
You know how much of my days used to be spent screaming at my computer? My neighbours must think I died (or at least they would if I didn’t have such amazing insulation in this historic old building, formerly Ronald Reagan’s office, on Hollywood Boulevard, where you can play music at insane volumes at 5am an the neighbours hear NOTHING.)
BILLION DOLLAR BIN
Well no more.
Now I have a bin.
I’m gonna make a billion dollars with this bin.
ME AN MUH BIN
DREAMS COME TRUE BRUH. Fortune favours the brave.
In other news, I drew Larry David just now.
PICTURE OF LARRY WOT I DREW JUST NOW
OK I’m gonna go to the gym and watch Bloodline on the elliptical now then I’m gonna come back here and record a new podcast then I’m gonna go and DJ Bootsy Bellows and play that Craig David edit and jump up and down joyfully cos that’s MY JOB.
OMFG man like Mozzer chopping it up with Lizard King Larry in his first “in person interview in ten years”. It is typically entertaining, and, amazingly to me, it was conducted at Bootsy Bellows in West Hollywood, where I DJ every Tuesday night. Splash!

FORSOOTH!
