ATD-VS-ALIEN-650Dearest reader,

My apologies for the lack of updates. I have been working my perky lil round ass off on this top secret new project out here in sunny Los Angeles with my buddy Wade, my wife Charlotte and my one year old son Hercules. 11 songs and 9 remixes thusfar. This week we are planning our live DJ debut, and next week we shoot our first video. This week we took a tour of Hydraulx‘s mind blowing one-stop-shop movie studio. Last week they were shooting Godzilla in there, this week we witnessed their FX artists working on the new X-Men movie, specifically Jennifer Laurence’s kung-fu kicking pelvis. I met a xenomorph –  specifically the one from Aliens VS Predator, which is sweet as that’s the one most closely modelled on Giger’s designs since the first Alien movie. They had Giger’s Necronomicon in the waiting room. I was so gassed, dear reader, so very very gassed.

Part of the building is this giant aircraft hangar green screen room with 15 Red cameras in it, including a 3D setup that one could monitor in 3D, live. That’s me and Wade in 3D, but you’d need 3D glasses and a 3D TV to see that shit OR you’d need a swaggy live double barrel 3D setup like this:

They even have that thing they used to map the dude who played Golumn in Lord of The Rings upstairs. You could make a whole movie in that one place. Hugely fucking inspiring day overall.

Speaking of which, I was totally gonna stay indoors and work all day yesterday, but my wife insisted I leave the apartment with her and Herc and go for a walk up Runyon Canyon in the glorious sunshine (they call that “hiking” round here, incidentally). She insisted it would make me feel fantastic and fill me with inspiration. She is a goddamn knowitall sometimes, that woman.

ak-herc-runyon-650Totally had an amazing time and totally returned to the lab and knocked out two next level remixes, one in a genre I’ve never touched before that I was a little apprehensive about and sounds fucking nuclear. THANKS KNOWITALLWIFE!

OK, back to work, I have a whole gang of remixes to get polished up ahead of playing them out at Hooray Henry’s on Wednesday. SOmething official might be popping off on Friday as well, stay tuned to the usual channels for info.

Boys. Keep. Swinging.ATD-and-HERC-SWINGINGShortly before this was taken I had an Elvis sandwich at Mendocino Farms (home made peanut butter, almonds, banana, bacon, apple, gluten free bread), and shortly before we stopped via ole Mashti Malone‘s World Famous Ice Cream Joint and had one of those peanut butter joints. In Los Angeles danger lurks on every corner. This week we are on a juice and soup diet. Wade, bemoaning a lack of sugary snacks, just went out and spent $45 on fruit and nuts. Let us rumble.

Behold, brothers and sisters, the mighty BARRELEYE, AKA the SPOOK FISH, my new favourite animal. I happened upon this lil dude last night whilst researching subliminal messages in the reversed conversation of humans and babies. Not only does this beautiful little fucker have a SEE THROUGH HEAD, its also got fucking MIRRORS in its eyes. Oh, and his eyes are the things that look like chopped up ping pong balls at the top, the things that look like regular eyes are lil dude’s nostrils. Cos he’s WAVY.

Here’s some rare footage of him swimming around in 2009.

Oh what a glorious thing fish you are.

Alien intervention theory proponent Lloyd Pie is dead, which is sad, because he’ll never get to see the final DNA test results of that starchild skull he dedicated so much of his life to.

Personally, I was intrigued, but, like Pie himself, waiting on that 100% proof… however his research and passion was fascinating, and I was always eager to hear what he had to say whenever he showed up on Red Ice.

Speaking of which, his partner appeared on Red Ice recently to discuss the continuation of his work. Not much new information if you’ve been keeping up with this, they still need loads of money to complete the DNA testing. An IndieGoGo is running here.

Beautiful and pathos infused fan rendering of the adult alien creature seen at the end of Prometheus, AKA cinema’s greatest disappointment.

Loads more over here, they’re having a competition.
