The Akira The Don Experience at The Natural History Museum: Photos

“I must have been to about 500 gigs over my life so far.  Last night ranks up there as one of the best ever (if not the). Thanks for the opportunity.”
Paul Schofield, June 22nd, 2009

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive Thank You You Rule Dot Com to everyone who helped to make last night’s show at The Natural History Museum the awesome thing it was. My excellent band – Joey, James, Jon, Ginge, Amy, and musical director and bass maestro BJ. Charlotte, Nonny and Rachel for invaluable costume assistance, amongst many, many other things. Laura and all at The Natural History Museum for providing an otherworldly venue, fine wine and nibbles, and some truly excellent and professional sound and light folks. And an especially gargantuan thank you goes out to all you that came and made us so welcome. Friends old, recent and new, who danced and sang and behaved in a wonderfully appropriate manner and didn’t break anything. Shout out to Alice Gun and her crew, who played beautiful music and were lovely people, and didn’t throw a tantrum when they came offstage and there wasn’t any wine left.

Speaking of which, if anyone had any strange experiences with my saxophonist, and dear old friend Damian “Ginge” Cook, please bear in mind that he’d flown in straight from Malta, had slept an hour and a half, and mistook the wine for beer, and chugged it accordingly.

So, our new friend Anna Madeline wrote some generous words about the show over here. And, as you can see above, the beautiful Lady Whewell took some awesome photos. If you, too, took some awesome (or rubbish) photos, please send them in so we add them to the gallery. atd at akirathedon dot com. PAX!

First time I'd seen you live and it was amazing! My dad enjoyed it a lot as well. He has a couple of full songs filmed if you're interested. They're pretty big files but I'm sure I'll find a way of getting them to you if you like. Loved the whole setup and the sound was surprisingly good I thought.

    • Akira The Don

Ace! That’d be dope, cheers. GLad you both enjoyed yourselves…

    hey mister the don.
2 questions unrelated to this as i didnt get to (massivly sad face)
    1. will there still be copies of your of omaga sanction + t- shirt in about 3 weeks times. i have had so little money that i havent been able to purchuse it yet but i got a job now (sad face again) and i will be getting paid in 3 weeks (happy face) and i have been listening to the thing on last fm (which probably means this is the wrong post ) (omfg this song has andrew wk on it)
    2. have you ever thought of doing one of those things like what mr ts got where you press the buttons and it say your catch frases. that would be awesome and it would totally sell
    AWESOME.

    • Akira The Don

Don't be sad! There will be more funtime. So, yeah, 1: YES. And there will be something new and awesome and Omega related. 2: I haven't but now I have and i ma excited at the prospect. But what ARE my catchphrases?

      • http://www.wordpress.2023.com k-dub1

im not 100%. i was still drunk when i wrote that but reading it again i think its still think its a awesome idea. the mr t ones got one which is all like "first name mr, second name period, last name T" i recon you could have a catch phrase like that. also the number of timees ive been in a convo and wanted to do your "RAH" thing you do and havent been able to because of my lack of god like vocal skills are uncountable. so there 2 things you could put on it.

      • bloodred

catch phrases (lol frases) for you? I’d prolly (prolly lol) vote for: “Livin’ in the future” (all reverbed) “thanks for all the aids” (i like it with mary in the back) and “I mean i’m twenty fucking five and i cant even drive a car” (my oft used personal fav)

  • jane
