WATCH: Paul Mooney – Black Is The New White

“The biggest drug is reality. You could be on an acid trip, you could be high on marijuana. You get up on that building and jump off, reality, that drug is there. You fall off, you’re gonna be dead. That is the first biggest drug, reality, life’s the second one. Even in death you don’t escape it.”

Paul Mooney is a fucking hero.

Also, that shit he says about Precious? That’s exactly what I thought.

‘…reality is a drug.’ Ha! Indeed it is.

And i like his point about scientologists, you gotta feel sorry for ‘em. You grow up in a Hollywood bubble, where everyone tells you you’re some sorta divine fuckin’ presence, till you can’t live without the fantasy, and you get sucked in by a buncha charlatans who’ll tell you exactly what you wanna hear, all day long, till the day you die. Because deep down inside, you know the truth, that ‘talent’ is really a matter of luck (right place or right time or right parents or right teacher, summint like that…), realization (where you switch in to the reality that you ‘WILL’ do this) and (this is the important bit) an unbelievable amount of hard work and sacrifice, and you know that anyone, theoretically, could do what you do! Not that the brain doesn’t have a plethora of it’s own peculiar and inherited characteristics, true, but seeds don’t grow on stony ground.

But talent is certainly not some divine fuckin presence inside yourself that needs to be worshipped and adored and pampered and fawned over in case it breaks or something. That’s ego….
