“Great Scott, Doc Brown’s back! Here’s a sneak peek from the new short coming exclusively to the Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Blu-ray and DVD Trilogies.”

WHERE’S MY HOVERBOARD ETC

Kinda makes you realise a sequel would totally still work so long as Doc Brown was in it.

ME AND MY BD SECURITY Gs ENTIRELY UNRELATED TO POST

You might not know this, but until a few weeks back, all the stuff I create – music, video, art etc – has been made on a 2011 Macbook Pro ever since Stephen Hague convinced me to swap from PC world back in 2011. Shit, I was DJing on it too. One 4 year old laptop, being dragged around LA every night and home again, making all my stuff. Shit was insane and untenable. And frustrating as hell. I’d get an hour into a music project, more than, say, 5 synths at once, and shit would start spitting and sputtering and freezing and crashing. That KILLER video was taking an hour worth of rendering time for every 12 seconds of greenscreen footage I’d edit.

Well, ever since they announced the new Mac Pro in 2013, I wanted one. And finally, the other week, I got one. I worked my little ass off, saved my dollars, and finally copped me a beautiful space aged shiny 20011-a-Space-Oddysey-Esque BIN that now sits proudly on my desk and enables me to do things I simply could not before.

Like the above. I created the music for New York based future-fashion don Daniel Silverstain’s latest collection, which involved 33 drums tracks, 21 instances of Omnisphere (a vast, power hungry synth I previously could manage two instances of before the whole machine collapsed), 15 instances of Garritan Instant Orchestra (a similarly resource hungry strings modelling plug in), 57 sample tracks and a wealth of automated effects… Which didn’t even get Logic (the DAW I use) to 50% CPU usage. No stuttering. No lagging. No crashing. No having to bounce down tracks every time I change something to save on CPU. Shit is full blown AMAZING and JOYFUL and my life has been UTTERLY ALTERED.

LOOKIT DA FLICKA DA DESK

You know how much of my days used to be spent screaming at my computer? My neighbours must think I died (or at least they would if I didn’t have such amazing insulation in this historic old building, formerly Ronald Reagan’s office, on Hollywood Boulevard, where you can play music at insane volumes at 5am an the neighbours hear NOTHING.)

So I saw man like Craig David and my buddy Narstie doing this live on 1Xtra and knew there needed to be a studio version. Smashed it out in a few hours, took it down to Blind Dragon in West Hollywood to play out and the place went NUTS… so much so I had to reload it twice.

FREE DOWNLOAD HERE! Meanwhile… That Rae Sremmurd remix we dropped last month just crossed 140,000 on Soundcloud, which is very crazy. That’s officially the most streams I’ve had on a single remix in 10 years. Baffled as to why this one popped off so hard, but thankful. THANKS INTERNETS GODS!

Its been a barmy couple of week’s here in La La Land. It was the VMAs the other Sunday, and me and Wadeyo played the official Hwood VMA’s afterparty at Henry’s. It was out first headline slot in that place, and it was a cotdurned ZOO all night. Young legend Justin Bieber’s official DJ Tay James opened up, and the former’s business partner and former road manager Kenny Hamilton was hosting, so I should have guessed when Kenny asked me to play Bieber’s just-released new joint What Do U Mean there might be a grander reason than just wanting to hear it… Still I was as surprised as everyone else when I dropped the thing and the young legend himself jumped up on my DJ booth and performed the song as the already-zoo turned into some kind of post-zoo inferno. E! wrote about it here, and you can see some footage here too, replete with bouncing up and down Don triggering explosionds and “AKIRA!” SFX in the manner of a warrior.

I’m playing Supper Club this Friday, which is exciting. Working my way through LA’s biggest and splashiest joints. Got till December to truly level up. My babies are back then. BACK FOR GOOD. Daddy’s gonna provide. What an emotional, crazed year this has been.  This time last year I was applying for my visa and running on my beach in Wales and working on my DJ library. Now I’m playing in LA’s hottest clubs every week and DJing for Justin Bieber. All that’s missing is my family. And they’ll be here soon.

THEN WE REALLY GO IN.

SPLASH!
