Akira The Don – ATD22: Superhero Music

Akira The Don

Damn, that was intense. That got deep back there. But it is done. The wait is over, ladies…

WOOOO HOOO!

It is all but done!

I am giving it a once over now, then I’m gonna play it on the Doncast at 5pm GMT!

Then I am gonna do a final master tweak, render it and chop it and tag it and zip it and up it to preorderers. And finish the art. Then up the stream.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!

EDIT 6: (04:20am):  Made two more songs – one via one of your suggestions, another for The King. Will not rush, take time to perfect glorious masterpiece. Will unveil Superhero Music during the Doncast at 5pm GMT

EDIT 5:  (21:50) Just rebooted for the umpteenth time. Songs are mixed. Choruses re-writ. Form is tangible. Danananananana.

EDIT 4:  (15:32) Four more ticks on the whiteboard, one more impromptu song, remix, re-vocal one song, make minor changes to all songs mainly in area of explosive percussion, AWESOME SCRATCH SOLO, times two, now, glue, got lots, missing magic ingredient.  To the crates!

EDIT 3: Still going! Yes I fell asleep! I was exhausted! Rah though! Ish is sounding fly! FLY! Rah though,  have emails 3 days old I haven’t even seen yet, that’s how deep in this I am. PYEEEEWM.

EDIT 2:  Software etc and my insistence on providing quality music with quality sound effects modelling means I stil have a little way to go before nailing this thing. But,  as you can see from the picture, we’s close…

Right, back to work!

Hold tight!

EDIT: Am experiencing lots of crashes and Microsoft Visual C ++ runtime errors, whatever they are.

Always around this time I am thinking, argh! Why do I set myself these harsh deadlines? Why do I insist on making life difficult for myself? If only I had more time I could do so much more! ETC!

But never mind that. Superhero Music drops at 23:59, GMT.

A new song went out to preorderers last night. Expect more today.

In the meanwhile, there is still room, and so far, this tape has been shockingly LIGHT on samples! SO! Suggest me your Superhero Music samples via Twitter and hashtag #superheromusic, or the comments. I will pick one at random to win a T shirt. GO!

Good morning gang! Today is a good day, since we all woke up, and for that we must be thankful. Praise Tarim!

Indeed, my throat is sore and my head is fuzzy, but this is what happens when you play strange, chaotic, unrehearsed Ballsacks To The Digital Economy Bill shows in Camden, which is what I did last night. Big up everyone that came down and witnessed the fitness, big up my DJ for the night Max Akira de Wardener, Son Of Zen Pyramid, who is 14 and had NEVER TOUCHED A PAIR OF CDJs before in his LIFE and flipping TORE IT DOWN like a TRUE G, and big up The Indelicates, who came onstage and played a gang of songs with me without ever having done it before. Pretty awesome. SKILLED MUSICIANS! Yes indeed. We did a number of things that have never been done live before, like Security, which was ace with Julia’s Piano, and Steven Wells (He Was The Greatest). Last time I was in The Monarch it was for his Life Celebration Party, so it was only right.

Also big up Dan Bull, who did his first ever show last night – I pressed play on the CDJs for him and chopped in little bits of Price songs without warning – and Lilly Ray. I’d never heard Lilly before, and she had some great songs. I need to investigate her further. Thank you Author Girl too, for holding down the merch stand and loaning me those headphones made out of tiny Easter chicks. Amazing.

Also, I THINK the livestream worked. I was running around too much to be able to check in, but as far as I could tell it was streaming anyway. How was it for you out in internetsville?

Littles was supposed to come, you know. Lucky I suspected him to FAIL and never announced him. He rang me just now to inform me that he was knackered after playing paintball for a Channel U, sorry, Channel AKA show all day. “It was nuts fam,” he said, as excited as one can sound when evidently Very Tired. “They was sneaking about behind trucks but I got Ghetts and Scorcher good. We lost though fam. I only got shot in the leg, but Narstie got shot in the head.”

I was also amazed to learn that they theme paintball these days. The theme? Afghanistan. WOW.

Rah though, right now I have to run to Oxfam or something and find some SHOES, as I am going to The Ritz to celebrate my girlfriend’s Mother’s 60th birthday, and they don’t let you in without shoes. SHOES, not trainers. Can you believe I have no shoes? Amazing. I have some cowboy boots, but the heels are all worn away, diagonal, and they make me walk like an inverse-John Wayne. I also need to find a tie. What’s this Ritz like anyway? The only Ritz I have any familiarity with one puts cheese on. Damn, I used to love those things. I could eat a whole box in under an hour.

Ah, memories.

PS – Anyone got a photo/image from last night with which to illustrate this post?

You see that? I told you Zef getting involved was a good idea.

Zef has CELEBRITY CONTACTS. Look at this!

Toby Maguire APPROVED, bubba!

POW!

That’s your Superhero Music T-shirt right there. That’s that ish you wanna throw on if you’re off to fight some crime. Or do some summertime anti-heroism, Punisher-style.

BRAKKA-BRAKKA-BRAKKA!

Toby’s feeling it hard, look in his eyes!

That’s some INTENSITY.

PREORDER MP3 & T!

PREORDER MP3!

We’re looking good over here. I’ve been banging out that SUPERVILLAIN music today. Oh my days, it’s hardcore. I haven’t done anything like this before. This is that merk-a-man music. This is that spray up the club in a trench coat whilst laughing music. I AM WARNING YOU RIGHT NOW! You will feel moved to commit attrocities! I am going to have to sequence this thing just right, otherwise I will have blood on my hands.

Speaking of which, I hear half the music industry (the half Universal owns) is gonna come out as pro-Mandy internet thieves at 10am tomorrow. That should be funny.

Meanwhile, me and Ye Indelicates will be protesting their dumb asses with the power of AWESOME MUSIC! What shall I play? I’m gonna do half the set ON MY OWN, old school, and the other half with MUSICIANS. So there is muchos scope-os. I might also try some of the stuff out in the Doncast, so make sure you’re tuned in for THAT one.
